Laval police are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of an alleged dogfighting ring and related acts of animal cruelty.

On Jan. 21, someone alerted police after finding five dogs cramped together in a parking lot of an industrial sector of Chomedey.

An examination by veterinarians determined that the dogs were pit bulls. The animals were thin and malnourished, and bore the physical scars of being used in a dogfighting ring.

The dogs were covered with canine bite marks, as well as injuries to the neck and head, police said.

Considering their extremely poor physical condition, the dogs were euthanized.

Police are trying to find the location of dogfighting activities, and to identify those involved with these acts of cruelty.

If you have any information relating to this case, call the Laval police info line at 450-662-INFO (4636). All information will be treated confidentially.
